Rich Burns received his undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Masters of Business Administration from Auburn University. He had a successful career as a Navy pilot flying jets from aircraft carriers and won numerous awards for leadership of large, complex organizations and high performing teams. His career included command of a fighter squadron, deputy command of a carrier based air wing and base commander of Naval Air Station Pensacola, one of Navy's largest shore bases.
Rich has also been recognized for leadership in the implementation of large enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in the private sector working with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida. (PeopleSoft). He has extensive experience in human resource programs in higher education at the University of Texas at Austin where he served as Director. His expertise includes organizational analysis and leadership development, competency analysis, compensation analysis business process redesign, implementation of automation.
In the area of diversity, Rich served as President of the Central Texas Diversity Council headquartered in Austin, Texas from 2006 to 2008. He was recognized for advocacy of diversity concepts and is an accomplished presenter on Diversity topics.
Jacinta (Penny) Burns received a Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University (Kingsville). She has a rich career in education working in both urban and rural environments. She has extensive expertise in English as Second Language (ESL) and working with students with limited English proficiency. She has served in numerous positions of leadership including curriculum development, planning, parent consultation and team lead. Penny was recognized as teacher of the year for her accomplishments working in a dual language "Magnet" program serving both inner city and gifted children.
